A classical Bengali metrical pattern in which syllable count determines the rhythm of each line. Also known as Poyar in some contexts. The metre used in Banalata Sen consists of lines of approximately 14 syllables, divided by a natural pause (caesura) in the middle. It creates a rhythmic flow suited to recitation and is one of the oldest forms in Bengali prosody.
