(পয়ার) The most common classical Bengali metre, also called aksherbritta. It consists of couplets of lines with 14 syllables each (8+6 division), with a natural pause after the eighth syllable. Banalata Sen uses this metre, giving the poem its characteristic rhythmic dignity.
