(Greek: μοῖρα) Fate, or the portion of destiny assigned to each person by the gods. In the worldview of Greek tragedy, moira could not be altered by human effort, prayer, or cunning. It is the invisible mechanism beneath Oedipus Rex — the reason every attempt to escape the oracle tightens rather than loosens the trap.
