A dangling modifier is a participial (or other verbal) phrase that does not logically connect to the noun it is supposed to modify. Example: Walking down the road, the trees looked beautiful. Here, the trees were not walking — the phrase modifies the wrong noun. Corrected: Walking down the road, I found the trees beautiful.
