The fictional school in Malgudi that Swaminathan attends. A “mission school” was a type of educational institution established by Christian missionary organizations in British India. Mission schools were known for strict discipline and English-medium instruction. The name Albert Mission School is Narayan’s invention, but it captures the colonial character of such institutions accurately.
