Dénouement

French for “untying” or “unraveling.” The dénouement is the final resolution of a narrative’s main conflict, following the climax. It does not simply end the plot but settles the implications of events — answering what happens to the characters after the central tension is resolved. In Pride and Prejudice, the dénouement follows Darcy’s second proposal and confirms the fates of all major characters.
